Colorwave
A fun filled evening of paint, music, bottomless drinks and food featuring Tanisha Mapp held at Parc Gedeon de Catalogne on July 28, 2018. This outdoor event marks the joining of forces between Digital Movements and the Eva R. Gsum Foundation.

Le 624 - Saint Henri
The charity hosted its first full event on June 24th 2016 to celebrate Fete Nationale. The community event was held at Park Gedeon de Catalogne in Saint Henri. The 9:30am -12:30 pm activities included a 5km run, a walking tour, sports and arts fusion activities and a 1 hour outdoor workout class with H2O Gym's Cardio Kickbox and WzFitness's Zumba. We would like to thank all the participants, volunteers and organizations that helped out.

New Addition to the Board of Trustee and Tearful Goodbye
In 2016, the board of trustees welcomes a new member - Fred Bernard.
Fred is a former all-star basketball player at McGill University and has been a
good friend to the foundation for many years. We must also say thank to Kurt MacAlpine who has been on the board since the beginning and will no longer
serving on the board due to a change in occupations. Best wishes to both Kurt and Fred as they embark on new endeavors.

She Did That Prom
This volunteer organization, in its second year of existence,
is aimed at giving a high school graduate the chance to win
an experience of a lifetime; an all expense paid prom.

For the Love of Cakes 2014
Once again proceeds from this year's For the Love of Cakes on November 29th will be going to support the Eva R. Gsum Foundation. In addition to Mama J's cakes and cupcakes this year's event at the Hive on the Loyola Campus of Concordia University will feature spoken word artists and an art exhibit. Thank you to Mama J for including the charity in the event once again, our sponsor Double Pizza and all those who helped out and attend.
The Countdown to Giving Tuesday 2014 is on
After Black Friday & Cyber Monday comes Giving Tuesday on December 2nd (countdown clock in the top right corner). Interac will match online charitable donations to the Eva R. Gsum Foundation -up to $25 per donation- made through CanadaHelps.org or on the GivingTuesday.ca web site (click on Giving Tuesday symbol in the top right corner) and paid using Interac Online.

Guard Play - a novel for young readers
The Foundation produced a book with help from Blurb! The text, original cover art and editing was provided by staff and scholarship winners! 'Guard Play' (book cover is above Articles to the right) is for a Grade 5-8 reading level but is a good read for all. For every book that is purchased, ING Direct Montreal
Cafe des finances will donate a book to a child in the Bouncing Back to Books Reading and Sports Program at Westmount Park Elementary.
100% of funds raised supports the Eva R. Gsum Foundation.
John Grant Basketball Classic
On May 24th, John Grant High School hosted the first Basketball Classic versus John F. Kennedy High School. Both teams played hard on the court and the rest of the school cheered even harder from the stands. MVP prizes were provided by Gildan & the Toronto Raptors and the spectators received thundersticks from ING Direct Montreal.

Financial Literacy Seminar
Following up on the success of the workshop in 2012, a Financial Literacy Seminar was held on May 2nd at John F. Kennedy High School for students in Secondary 4. ​There were speakers from Money Mart and Autorité des Marchés Financiers. The students learned about making budgets, properly using credit and scams to avoid.

Great News! The Eva R. Gsum Foundation received 1000$ as one of the Montreal Regional Game Changer winners. The Scotiabank Game Changers program recognizes local heroes who, like you, work tirelessly to create a brighter future for all Canadians. Scotiabank will be acknowledging and celebrating community Game Changers at CFL games all season with seventy-two $1,000 donations to the cause or charity of their choice. Eight will receive a trip to the 100th Grey Cup in Toronto and one will earn a $100,000 donation at the 100th Grey Cup.

Sponsored by a grant from General Mills - Life Made Delicious Program, the Eva R. Gsum Foundation visits schools, local tournaments, community groups and camps to promote healthy eating, physical activity and perseverance in school- we will speak to the kids, hand out important information including information on Registered Education Savings Plan (RESPs), have skills competitions and give out prizes from the Toronto Raptors, 4imprint and Adidas.

Basketball Legends Entertainment
BLE (Basketball Legends Entertainment) is a committed organization whose mission is to bring back the city's best former basketball stars "LEGENDS" to inspire and mentor the young basketball talents from Montreal. The Eva R. Gsum Foundation has teamed with BLE to create an annual scholarship fund for the high schools and community teams represented in the games leading up to the main event - The Annual Basketball Legends Summer Classic. This year they will be presenting a March Madness Tournament as well. Last year the Classic was held at College Vieux Montreal, June 21-24.

Cafe Plantation and ING Direct Montreal have agreed to participate in the "Pin-Up" Campaign. A "Pin-Up" is a paper cut-out of our foundation's logo. These businesses will sell "Pin-Ups" to clients as a way to garner donations. The clients will sign the shoe to show their support of our foundation. The donated "Pin-Ups" will be displayed (pinned up) on a wall or window.

Score With School - November 2, 2012
More than 700 students from the English Montreal School Board were in attendance on November 2 at McGill University’s McConnell Winter Stadium for an Ontario University Athletics (OUA) regular season game between the defending national champion Redmen and York University. Through the Eva R. Gsum Foundation, five EMSB students were awarded ING Direct cash scholarships of $300 each: Bianca Bernabei, John Caboto; Jarik Pillai, Elizabeth Ballantyne: Katerina (Ionna) Lazaris, LaurenHill; Denise Moshonas, John F. Kennedy; and Mirkan Cevirme, Perspectives. ING Direct’s Marianne Tadros and Darche made the official presentations. This special daytime game was part of the Score with School Program. Over the course of the season McGill players will be visiting EMSB schools, emphasizing the importance of staying in school and getting a university education. At the game itself there were motivational speeches, with a reminder that someone can be an elite athlete and maintain good grades at the same time.

Karma 4 Kids/Giving Back - October 20-21, 2012​
This unique event was held as part of the Montreal International Symposium on Therapeutic Yoga at the Westin Hotel downtown. During this session, open to the general public of ages 10-110, beginners to experienced yogis attended yoga classes donated by certified and recognized teachers. All sessions are by donation, with the funds raised going to support the Eva R. Gsum Foundation and matched by ING Direct. The 4 sessions were held both days in the morning (10:30-12:30) and afternoon (1:30-3:30) in a room exclusively reserved for this purpose. Participants will also have access to the exhibit hall, prizes from ING Direct, 92.5 the Beat, Lululemon and sampling of DavidsTea. Click on the day for more pictures from Day 1 and Day 2.

​2012 Dawson Classic - October 5-7, 2012
The Eva R. Gsum Foundation is the supplier of the MVP prize (Nestle Champions Basket) and the giveaway prizes (from the Toronto Raptors, Adidas, deFacto and 4imprint) at the 2012 Dawson Classic. The Dawson Classic (formerly the Hagen Tournament) is widely regarded as the best tournament in Montreal - hosting the best Division 1 Men's basketball teams from Quebec and great CCAA teams from Ontario and Nova Scotia.

​Sogo Active - September 29, 2012
With the help of Sogo Active, the Vanier Division 1 Men's basketball team played an exhibition game vs. a team of former players put together to support the Eva R. Gsum Foundation. The game happened to be on Sports Day in Canada! The game was part of a series of games for the former players against Division 1 teams around Montreal. Thank you to all who participated.

The Eva R. Gsum Foundation, with the help of Adidas Canada is proud to announce their partnership with the Greater Montreal Athletic Association (GMAA). The foundation will be the official sponsor of the MVP Awards for all 12 of the 2012 GMAA Basketball Championship Games. The Eva R. Gsum Foundation with the help of Adidas Canada is providing prizes for a free NCAA Tournament Pool for high school basketball players. Pat Sullivan, Athletic Director and coach, came up with the idea for the Pool, to encourage students to watch games, to see the way the game is played at a higher level and to get them to discuss the great game of basketball.

Financial Literacy Workshop - March 8, 2012
A Financial Literacy Workshop (budgeting, proper use of money and credit) was presented by National Money Mart with keynote speaker Brian Smith, CJECDN and guest speaker Toiya Brown, Money Mart at the Manoir (5319 Notre-Dame-de-Grace Avenue). Thank you to all those that were in attendance and that helped with the event.

​Writing Contest - December 29, 2011
The 2nd Score with School game was played at McGill's McConnell arena. Hockey players from all over Montreal were in attendance. ING Direct announced the writing contest winner. Students were asked to write about the importance of perserverance in school while participating in extracurricular activities. 1000$ in bursaries were awarded to the winners.

JFK Flea Market - December 14, 2011
Funds from the sales, auction and tables at the John F. Kennedy High School Flea Market will go directly to the Eva R. Gsum Foundation. Thank you to the Sec. 3 Economics Project teachers and students.

​Score With School - December 2, 2011
Students from the EMSB and the Lester B. Pearson school boards were part of the 2nd largest crowd to watch a university hockey game (3,780) as McGill beat RMC 3-2 at Verdun Auditorium to wrap up the Score with School program. ING DIRECT had volunteers handing out school supplies and thundersticks and donated funds for 5 bursaries for elementary and high school students and 2 for McGill hockey players.

Hugo Laporte visits JFK - November 29, 2011
As part of the Score with School program, McGill hockey player Hugo Laporte visited John F. Kennedy High School in St. Michel to talk with the Grade 10 classes about the importance of lifelong learning. ING Direct presented the school with pucks for their hockey program.

Mini Day Bagel - November 16, 2011
With the help of St. Viateur Bagel, the Mini Day Bagel at John F. Kennedy High raised funds for bursaries. Thanks to Champs Sports, holiday gifts were also provided for a deserving student.
